Activities

Everyone Welcome.  We offer a variety of activities and clubs during the week, from tennis, mother and toddler groups, Bible studies to musical societies.

Please ask at the Church for further information.

Alpha

We have run two Alpha Courses at SH which have been well received. As the above ALPHA logo says, there is more to life than this and the ALPHA Course gives us time to work out for ourselves in the relaxed company of others exactly what that is. The opportunity to ask the difficult questions such as:

  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did he die?
  • How can I have faith?
  • How do I pray?
  • Why and how do I read the Bible?
  • Who is the Holy Spirit?

Alpha is a series of group conversations that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly environment. Everyone’s welcome – we intend to run another course in Spring 2027. No matter your background or beliefs, you’re invited.

The Alpha Course has been run recently; click on the link to read more about this.

Bible Study

One of the (if not the) most important ways we can grow as Christians is to study God’s word as it is written in the Bible. All are welcome to join a group of people who meet together most Wednesday mornings between 10-11.30am and Wednesday evenings between 7.30-9.00pm. We reflect on the previous Sunday’s service and study the Bible passages used in the service, but in more depth than the service time allows.

We try to more fully understand what the Bible tells us and, in our time together, have grown as a fellowship where we can share our faith, our thoughts and really enjoy each other’s company. As a closing act we have time of prayer for our concerns.

Choir

The choir, although small in numbers, supports the Sunday morning service by giving a good, strong lead to the hymn singing, encouraging the congregation to sing with confidence.  Favourite and meaningful times are when we sing during the administration of Holy Communion, and at the special services at Christmas and Easter.   The choir meets before the morning service at 9.45am to rehearse the hymns so that we can avoid any pitfalls!  If there are special services or a concert coming up, we meet on Friday mornings for an hour of extra rehearsal time. We welcome singers in all voices to join us.

Craft and Chat

A small group meets once a month on Thursdays, 2-4pm, to share their love of craft in all its forms.  Come and join us for knitting, cross stitch, drawing, cutting out, colouring-in and card making, or just come to chat over a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Ladies Badminton

Ladies badminton meets on Wednesday afternoons at 1:30pm in the upper hall. New members are welcome.

Midweek Holy Communion

An opportunity for those who wish to receive Holy Communion during the week. On the first Wednesday of each month, starting at 10.30am, it is followed by refreshments and a time to talk together.

Network Fellowship

Network is a popular and lively group for men and women which meets fortnightly on Monday afternoons. Members are entertained by a variety of speakers, concerts or members’ afternoons where we discuss a wide variety of topics, ending with tea, biscuits and a chat. The programme is advertised in the monthly newsletter and weekly notices.

Oasis Stay & Play

Oasis under 5’s stay and play, meets Tuesdays in term time, 10- 11.30am and is a unique group which encourages and stimulates learning. This is achieved through the diverse variety of toys and play opportunities available. The children are offered a craft activity each week which is age appropriate as well as a singing session at the end of the meeting.  Each month we hold a ‘toddler praise’ which incorporates a Christian message into the singing and story time held within the church, each one is interactive and the children never leave empty handed, taking something which will remind them of the message they have heard. Each session is lively and full – you will always receive a warm welcome at oasis.

Each session is £1.50 come and see what we are all about.

During the summer months we move premises from the church to a nearby tennis club at 11/13 Manor Drive, Surbiton (see map below) owned by the church – this has a large garden with a sand pit, climbing frame and a Wendy house as well as a large decking area used for bikes.

WE ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS AND WILL BE STARTING BACK AT THE TENNIS CLUB ON TUESDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER AND BACK TO THE CHURCH TUESDAY 6TH OCTOBER.
